Ambrosia Maple
Maple wood is very strong and looks great. It has a light, creamy color, smooth grain pattern, and impressive durability. It is used for furniture, flooring, sports equipment and kitchen utensils.
The Granulate Ambrosia Beetle was introduced to the US from China in the 1970s. The beetle infests over 100 different types of plants, for example fruit trees, nut trees or maples. The beetle bores extensive tunnels into the wood and introduces a fungus that penetrates the tree sap as the beetle eats into the tree, and spreads up and down through the tree. The infested plant may die from the boring damage or from the fungal infection.
The fungus leaves streaks of distinct colorations in the wood. When we select this wood for our furniture, the reclaimed Maple creates stunning impressions.
